The way to yourself

audio guide

Yegor Zigura's sculpture "The Path to Yourself" addresses the theme of self-discovery. It belongs to the "Shift of Consciousness" series, in which the artist explores various psycho-emotional states: from confusion and tension to clarity and balance.
The sculpture has the shape of a head with an open inner space. In its center is a human figure. The outer form is perceived as a shell that holds experience, social roles and the acquired image of the self, while the figure inside reveals the deep, personal essence of the person. The mirror surface placed nearby reinforces this perception: the viewer sees his own reflection and correlates himself with what he sees.
The artist refers to the concept of catharsis: in the ancient tradition, it is a state of emotional purification that arises through a deep experience of art. In such an experience, we not only observe, but also begin to perceive our own states differently. Sculpture does not tell a story, but creates a situation: the moment of a person's encounter with himself. It is then that the question arises: who am I beyond roles and expectations?
"The Path to Self" is not about achievement, but about an inner movement in which a person learns to separate the self from the imposed and to see himself more clearly. The work echoes the call to "know yourself," which in Socrates' philosophy means the most difficult and at the same time the most important thing - to understand one's thoughts, motives and limits. That is why this work leads to a simple but fundamental conclusion: the path to understanding the world begins with oneself, because only by realizing one's own essence can a person see the true nature of things and find inner balance. "Know yourself, and you will know the whole world."
