Mykola Biryuchinsky's sculpture "The Look" depicts a face made from a massive block of light stone, where less processed parts form the appearance of hair and a beard. The natural texture of the stone enhances the expressiveness of the image.

A generalized face, devoid of individual features, is perceived as an archetypal image of a person. The center of the composition is an elongated diamond-shaped opening, reminiscent of the pupil of the eye or a symbolic “window” of the gaze. The shape of the eye, its proportions and the lack of excessive detail emphasize its universal meaning: it is not just physical, but becomes a symbol of cognition, intuition and self-awareness.

The eye in philosophy traditionally symbolizes the ability to see the truth, to observe the deep essence of things. In this sense, Biryuchinsky's work encourages us to look inside ourselves and feel the depth of our own perception, revealing hidden worlds of thoughts and feelings.
