"Spider"

The monumental park sculpture "Spider" by Oleg Bonkovsky is an enlarged version of a decorative vase he created while working at the North American Blacksmiths' Union.

In world symbolism, the image of a spider personifies creativity, virtuosity of craft and the ability to create complex and harmonious forms. In the Ukrainian tradition, "spiders" have long been known as decorative hanging structures made of straw - home amulets. It is associated with hard work, creative energy and the ability to build harmony. In folklore, the spider's web is often seen as a symbol of the interweaving of human destiny, and the spider itself is a weaver of the life path.

Folk beliefs give the spider positive power: it brings good luck, wealth, prosperity and protection. There was a sign: to see a spider descending on a thread - to joy and happy changes. The larger the spider - the greater the well-being awaits the owners of the house.

The sculpture "Spider" by Oleg Bonkovsky embodies all these meanings, from skill and creativity to protective power and well-being. Its monumental dimensions enhance the effect of presence, and strong metal forms remind of endurance and the ability to weave goodness into space. It is not only a decorative element of the park, but also a kind of symbol of good luck, which, according to popular belief, brings happiness to everyone who meets it.
